Join Liberty for an afternoon of debate, discussion, live performances, and short films.

As we emerge from the pandemic, we have a unique opportunity to consider what type of society we want to be moving forward. Government ministers talk about ‘building back better’, but actions speak louder than words, and theirs suggest this won’t be the case unless we push for it.

Hear from experts and activists on some of the most pressing human rights issues in the UK today, from policing to threats to the Human Rights Act and judicial review.

Live performances from renowned poets Lemn Sissay and Mr Gee.

Video features on Streets Kitchen and Disability Rights UK, organisations that have been on the front line of rights protection during the pandemic and beyond.

Closing the event will be a session on what freedom will look like in Britain after the pandemic, with guest speakers:

Francesca Martinez – comedian, writer and activist

Leah Cowan – activist and author of Border Nation

John Harris – journalist at the Guardian
